San Salanten is a small monastery school dedicated to preserving and advancing the sciences like so many other Gnostic schools around Castille. It has been under the eye of the Inquisition of late, particularly for its contents in the forbidden and semi-heretical works of the medieval scholar Commodius who often wrote of visions “inspired by Théus.”

Situated on a rocky promontory over the river, San Salanten has weathered attacks from numerous bandit-lords and even invading armies. It was constructed in 893, and is one of the oldest monastic houses in the region. It possesses a world-renowned library and scriptorium located in the huge octagonal aedificium tower inside its walls.
